Why AQRS Exists
AQRS was founded on a simple principle: the roof is the primary protective layer of any property, and its condition has a direct impact on the safety and performance of the building beneath it.
AQRS promotes the importance of regular roof condition assessment as part of responsible property maintenance, helping identify potential issues before they develop into more significant damage.
Learn more about why AQRS believes roof condition should form part of a structured preventative maintenance approach.
WHAT AQRS DOES
The Association of Quality Roofing Standards (AQRS) provides third-party certification of roofing condition reports and completed works submitted through the AQRS system.
Through structured inspection review, approval processes, and a centralised register, AQRS aims to promote greater accountability and consistency within roofing assessment and certification.
Our certification is designed to support contractors, protect property owners, and provide a clear reference point for roofing assessment and certification.
WHY ROOFING CERTIFICATION MATTERS
A properly installed and maintained roof is critical to protecting the structure, safety, and long-term integrity of any property.
Poor workmanship, lack of accountability, and unverified repairs can lead to water ingress, structural damage, and costly failures.
AQRS certification confirms that submitted roofing works and inspections have been reviewed against AQRS assessment criteria and formally recorded within the AQRS register.
AQRS Certification Services
Roof Condition Certificate (RCC)
Access real-time industry guidance and verify contractor certifications with confidence. Our certification process assesses submitted projects against AQRS assessment criteria and records approved certifications within the AQRS register, with Roof Condition Certificates valid for 12 months to reflect ongoing performance and condition.
Annual renewal is recommended to identify defects early, support proactive maintenance, and help safeguard the structural integrity of the roof and the safety of the property, including critical systems such as electrical and gas installations.
Certificate of Works (COW)
Certification of completed roofing works, providing independent confirmation that works have been carried out, reviewed, and meet AQRS certification requirements.
Each certificate creates a verified record of the works undertaken, supporting transparency, accountability, and confidence for property owners, contractors, and stakeholders.
How the AQRS system works
-
Contractors apply to become AQRS registered
2. Approved contractors submit inspections or completed works
3. AQRS reviews each submission independently
4. Certificates are issued upon approval
5. All certificates are recorded within the AQRS register
Who AQRS supports
AQRS certification supports multiple sectors including contractors, homeowners, property managers, estate professionals, and insurers. By providing independent verification and a central register, AQRS helps improve accountability, traceability, and professional record keeping for roofing works.
